Trump just explained why he’s always on Twitter in a bizarre tweet

- Desember 30, 2017

Somebody’s getting a little defensive about their excessive time spent on social media.

That’s the obvious conclusion from the latest tweet from President Donald Trump, who continues to claim that the only reason he spends so much time on Twitter is to counterbalance the “lies” spread by the “press” which he cleverly puts in quotes because, you know, print is dead and everyone reads the news on their phones and tablets now.

Yes, and he reads Playboy for the articles too.

Now that we know that “Fake News Media” should be capitalized (expect Trump to file for a copyright, or at least a trademark, shortly), we can point out the irony of the President making such a statement, as someone who has spread more false statements to the public, whether by Twitter or other un-intermediated social media, or through traditional means of TV, radio, newspaper interviews, or simply opening his mouth, than any other President in history.

Politifact.com needs 8 pages to list all of Trump’s lies.

The Washington Post hasn’t updated its list since November 13th when it calculated that the president had lied 1,628 times in 298 days, with a peak average of nine lies a day in October and November. Don’t worry the total has gone up since then.

The New York Times took a different approach by comparing “Trump’s Lies vs. Obama’s.” Their findings:

“In his first 10 months, Trump told nearly six times as many falsehoods as Obama did during his entire presidency”

The New York Times only credits Trump with 103 lies because their methodology counts every instance of repeated lies as a single lie. Given the totals that The Washington Post came up with, that means that when Trump lies he repeats that lie a lot. That’s because when you repeat a lie often enough, then people start to believe it like the truth, like the claim that the truth that the media publishes is “Fake News”.

Nice try, Donald. We know that the more you tweet about the “Fake News Media”, the closer they are to exposing the real truth about you. Most of us already know it. Your approval ratings are lowest of any President at this point in their administration, so you lie about that too, but you can’t change the reality, as much as you may try.

Maybe if you spend less time on social media and more time reading and actually understanding the issues facing the nation, you wouldn’t have to be so defensive.
