America’s most admired man was just announced and it is going to infuriate Trump

- Desember 27, 2017

For a man fueled entirely by his ego, Trump has precious few accomplishments to prop himself up with. His approval ratings are at historic lows, his only “victory” is the regressive tax bill he rammed through to give tax cuts to the super-rich and himself, and he’s the laughingstock of much of the world.

Insecurity oozes from his mouth every time he opens it or comes shooting out of his Twitter in the middle of the night. He’s a man consumed by his own inadequacies and now he can add a new one to the list.

Gallup has released the results of its “Most Admired Man In America” poll, and President Trump was unable to clinch the coveted top spot. Instead, former President Obama was awarded the distinction for the tenth year in a row. He received 17% of the vote, while Trump slumped in at 2nd place with 14%.

“Obama has now been named the most admired man 10 times, trailing only Dwight Eisenhower, who earned the distinction 12 times. Obama won all eight years he was president, plus 2008 — the year he was first elected — and this year, his first as a former president,” writes Jeffrey M. Jones of Gallup.

The news is certain to be a blow to fragile Trump, who has defined his first year in office by trying to undo President Obama’s legacy, regardless of the destruction it causes or how petty it makes him appear.

“Trump’s unpopularity is holding him back from winning the most admired distinction. The incumbent president is the usual winner, since he is arguably the most prominent figure in the country — but when the president is unpopular, other well-known and well-liked men have been able to finish first. Obama, like Hillary Clinton, may fade in prominence the longer he is out of office. Former presidents commonly make the top 10 list but rarely win, with Obama only the second to do so, along with Eisenhower in 1967 and 1968,” Jones explains.

Other names on the list included Pope Francis, Senator John McCain (R-AZ), and the Dalai Lama also appeared on the list in lower spots.

As if the Obama win wasn’t enough to infuriate Trump, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton won the spot for America’s Most Admired Women, beating out the female members of the Trump administration.

It’s the 16th year in a row that Clinton has won the top spot. She’s won it 22 times in total. This year, she received 9% of votes while Michelle Obama came in a close second with 7%.

German Chancellor Angel Merkel, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-OK), and Queen Elizabeth also appeared on the list. Donald’s wife, First Lady Melania Trump squeaked onto the list in 8th place with 1%. Trump’s Ambassador to the United Nations, took 9th with the same percentage.

Once again, the people of the United States have spoken out and rejected our hateful, ignorant president. Were it not for the electoral college, he wouldn’t even be in the White House in the first place. Hopefully, soon, he no longer is. This poll bodes well for the future of our country.
